Whether you’re exploring Popham Beach, enjoying local history, or relaxing on a screened-in porch, T. Percy Cottages offers the perfect escape from everyday life.
This cottage is a former boarding house located on Cox Head Road which is 4 miles from Popham Beach State Park. The cottage sleeps 6; has a large screened-in dining porch as well as a long porch facing east to watch the sun rise.
This Saltbox-style cottage is located on Popham Road 1 mile before you get to Popham Beach State Park. The 2-story cottage has three bedrooms (sleeps 5); bathroom w/ shower; a spacious family room, library, dining room, new kitchen & a screened-in dining porch.
This building originated as the “shooting Gallery” for the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Club. Pop bought the building and had Mr. Kopp bring it down Route 209 and set it up near Hidden House. At 70 ft long, he turned it into a duplex. The Annex is 1 mile from Popham Beach State Park.
When Tom and Cynthia Percy founded T. Percy Cottages in 1969, their vision was simple: to create a peaceful, rustic getaway near Popham Beach where guests could unwind, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
They stocked each cottage with good mattresses, well-equipped kitchens for everything from boiling lobster to baking a cake, a library of books, and classic board games for unplugged family fun. Over the years, these cottages became more than just summer rentals—they became a tradition.
Generations of families returned year after year, drawn to the charm of the screened-in porches, the absence of televisions, and the serene sounds of the ocean. By 1976, after retiring from teaching, Tom and Cynthia made Popham their full-time home, welcoming guests like old friends.
The Percy Cottage properties are just right for a low key family vacation surrounded by beautiful natural views. They provide just the right amount of comfort and practical needs without a lot of fussy extras. You’ll want to be there for two weeks, as one is just not enough time to really enjoy the surroundings. Our family with children enjoy the beach, fishing, boogie boarding, game nights, homemade meals and excursions to Bath.
This month my daughters and I stayed at "The Gallery" in Popham and we had a blast. It is very private and I loved the authentic old Maine feeling of the cottage. It had knotty pine walls throughout, hardwood floors, and the back porch is surrounded by huge old growth evergreen trees. You feel like you are in the middle of the woods but it's only about a mile from Popham Beach and just down the road from Spinney's Restaurant. Lots of shopping --groceries, etc-- can be bought in Bath about fourteen miles upstream. Thank you Leila!
Rented from you a few times (years ago)you are wonderful hosts. Hope one day to come back and visit again. Truly miss your part of the world.
